GRAND COMMANDER’S MESSAGE

Sir Knights, this is my last message. How quickly the year has gone. This is without any regrets because I know that the year went well and that I will be putting this Grand Line in very good hands. This year has given me lots of time to travel, meet new friends and enjoy all their companionship. We even have had some great trips and have learned a lot from our sister states. It just was an incredible time. One has to do this in order to really know how good and how much fun it really is. So thanks for all of you giving me this opportunity to have been your Grand Commander this past year.

Fraternally,
Leopold R. Lariviere, Jr., GC

A NEW YEAR COMING UP

Sir Knights and Ladies this is nearly the beginning of another Templar Year. Let each of us do our utmost to support our newly elected Grand Commander, our local Commanderies and Templary in general. To be totally selfish about this for a moment, one of the ways we can each help to support one another is by sending in notices of any news or events for inclusion in the Supplement. Summer tends to be a time when there isn’t much in the way of scheduled activities by Constituent Commanderies or by the Grand Commandery. This makes it even more important to have items of general interest or other news during these months. If possible, I would also like to have items or any other news concerning our Beauceant Sisters. Notices of upcoming events or activities would help us all make better attendance plans.

2008 ANNUAL GRAND CONCLAVE

The one hundred and fifty seventh annual Grand Conclave of the Grand Commandery of Maine will be coming up at the end of this month. The Grand Conclave will once again be held in Portland Maine on Monday April 28, 2008.

Also don’t forget the activities prior to the Grand Conclave session. The annual meetings of several Commandery related bodies take place during that weekend as well as the Grand Commandery banquet on Sunday evening.

This annual meeting time for the York Rite Bodies always affords a great opportunity to renew old friendships and make new ones. Don’t forget to visit with the ladies in the boutique room. They always have many interesting items for sale along with several terrific raffles.

FROM THE EDITOR

This will be the final Supplement edition for this Templar Year. The May issue of the Knight Templar Magazine marks the beginning of a new Templar Year for the Grand Commandery of Maine. By the time you receive that issue, we will have a new Right Eminent Grand Commander elected and in office. As with each new Grand Commander’s term of office, I am sure this year will offer new and interesting opportunities for us all as well as some important new programs.
I would like to thank all those Sir Knights and Ladies and also the Social Order of the Beauceant for the articles and photos they have sent this year. They certainly help to keep everyone up to date on happenings around the state.

COMING UP IN JUNE

The Grand Conclave will take place this year early enough so that there should be plenty of time to have a full list of the newly elected Grand Commandery Officers ready to be published in the June issue of the Knight Templar magazine Supplement. This printed listing of the new officers gives those Sir Knights and Ladies without internet access and who could not attend the Grand Conclave an opportunity to learn who their Grand Line Officers are for the upcoming year.
